Importance of service

Serving others is so important. I think it is something that people overlook and do not take seriously, whereas you will find people who are all about it. There are so many benefits that come from serving other people. While I was reading 2 Corinthians 9 this evening I came across a really cool passage that I wanted to share with you. My hope is that it will motivate you to go out of your way to do something for someone else. It doesn't even have to be something that extreme. You could open the door for someone, pick up some trash you see laying around, anything! I view service as something you should want to do for other people, not something that you feel like you have to do. Here is the passage I was talking about from up above.

2 Corinthians 9:12-15: This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift.

I love those verses so much. I encourage you to read that through a couple of times and I can almost guarantee that something different will stick out every single time. I especially love the beginning. "This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. When you go out of your way to serve somebody, you are serving the Lord's people and you're doing that in thanks to God. So powerful.

I challenge you to try serving someone before the day is over!

I believe that one of the things that hold people back from having a relationship with Christ is the feeling that they for some reason think...
