Open your eyes

Tonight I want to encourage you to really open your eyes. I encourage you to open your eyes on a deeper level, don't just scratch the surface. There is a deeper meaning to everything. Open your eyes to the Holy Spirit as well.

Before I get deeper into my point I want to share something else with you. It's fall break now, and we finally got to go home after some intense fall break practices-so I am feeling pretty exhausted. Today was really long and was totally booked from beginning to end. I had planned to do this blog tonight since this was going to be the only time that I could. I was watching Blue Chips in the basement with my parents and decided to come upstairs because I really wanted to finish this by midnight. I sat down at the kitchen table, started reading my bible and I could hardly keep my eyes open. The first couple of verses I read in John I don't even remember because all I wanted to do was sleep. Then I remembered. This isn't about me, it's about Christ. I was focused on my strength and didn't focus on what I should focus on and that is the power of the Holy Spirit. I needed to open my eyes to a deeper level. Every time I am about to read my bible, I always pray that the Holy Spirit really works in me, and the Spirit did just that. It was almost instantly. I felt led to share that little story because I think a lot of people feel that way when they open up their bibles. It's sometimes just really hard to focus in or even understand what you are reading through. That is how are life works sometimes. Time and time again you will have a sense of what God wants you to do with your life, or you will be doing what you feel led to do, and other times you just feel lost. That is when your vision isn't really there. You have to open your eyes up to all of the blessings that are always in your life.

In John Chapter 4, there is a passage about when the disciples rejoined Jesus. John 4:31-36 says: Meanwhile his disciples urged him, "Rabbi, eat something." But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about." Then his disciples said to each other, "Could someone have brought him food?" "My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Don't you have a saying, 'It's still four months until harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.

I love that passage so much and have read through it before but have never thought about it this way. Jesus tells the disciples that the food he had was his food, and that his food, was to do everything he does for the will of God. That is our life's as believers in Jesus Christ. We are called to live our lives for Christ and in such a way that we are doing what we are doing for the will of God. Jesus goes on to say, "don't you have a saying, 'it's four months until harvest?"  Four months till harvest? Sounds like us sitting around sometimes and waiting to see what God has in store for us. Jesus then says, "open your eyes and look at the fields." Open your eyes and look how good God has been to you!!! Everything we could ever need we have in our Father. I encourage you to harvest that crop for eternal life.

When you open your eyes-just imagine viewing everything as this: Colossians 1:15-17 says: The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: tings in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

All things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things and in him all things hold together. Have that vision and it will change your heart.

it's okay to not understand

I believe that one of the things that hold people back from having a relationship with Christ is the feeling that they for some reason think...
