Do you know what your reflection in the mirror looks like? I’m sure you immediately think... “yeah...duh.” Well I’m not talking about that reflection. I’m talking about a reflection that goes deeper than just seeing what you look like on the outside. My goal for you is that after reading this post that you can look into the mirror and truly see who you are. This requires some work on your part.
At a team meeting we had last night in our hotel in Wisconsin, our coach challenged us to do a little bit of a personal evaluation to see if we have grown since August. He talked about how most of the guys on the team have all become better basketball players since August which wasn’t the main goal. The main goal is if we are growing and becoming men of God and better people. It’s always super meaningful to hear your coach tell you that your personal spiritual growth is the most important goal. He challenged us to sit there is think about it. I challenge you to look in the mirror and ask yourself if you are living by and for the word of God.
James 1:22-24: Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in the mirror and after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
Those verses are so powerful. That is why the word of God is so important. Honestly if you are not in the word I don’t know how you learn about Jesus and everything that has to do with Christiany. I encourage you to start digging into the word so you know how to live! You can still live a decent life without it, but you’re ultimately missing out on everything. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to miss out on living our lives for Christ. The greatest gift ever was given to us and that is all talked about in the word! Dive into it, live by it and you’ll be able to live a life where you can look at yourself in the mirror and truly know who you are and who you live for. It’s so powerful!
James 1:25: But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it-not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it-they will be blessed in what they do.
Look into the perfect law-the word-it gives us all freedom. Do what you read and what you learn in the Bible and you will be blessed when you do it!
So...I challenge you. Every time you look into the mirror, reflect on your spiritual growth and if you’re doing what the Bible teaches us and instructs is to do. I know you all look in the mirror a lot which is perfect. The more times you look into the mirror the more time you spend on reflection. It’s not easy, it’s tough because we live in a world that wants you to live for yourself and for yourself only. We all get caught up in it. If you look into the mirror and realize you haven’t been doing what the word says that’s okay! Pray about it.

I write for one reason, and that is to encourage others, give perspective, and get people excited about their faith.
