Happy Friday evening and I hope that you all had an amazing week. I am excited for this post tonight. I don't really plan on making it that long and I actually mean that this time. I know I am very guilty of saying it's not going to be long and then it's crazy long! Tonight will be shorter, I promise.
Having an internship this summer has been absolutely amazing and such a blessing. Three days out of the week I have a commute of just around 45 minutes which means a decent amount of time in my car. I've started listening to podcasts every day on the way to work and on the way back from work.
I recently purchased a phone charger for my car and thanks to the amazing design of the iPhone 7 when I charge my phone I have to listen to the radio... Which is difficult because not being from the area, I don't know what the radio stations are so I have to scan through all of them.
Each time I have had to do that, there has been a similarity to the process that I cannot ignore and I am curious if anyone else has noticed it before. As I scan through all of the radio stations, there is one thing in common. Every single Christian radio station comes in perfectly clear.
All other stations are either playing music I am not interested in, having commercials, or the station doesn't come in at all.
The second time, it got me thinking. I was blown away by how amazing this is. Out of all of the radio stations out there, the Christian radio stations just happened to work.
I think that is a perfect example of how God is always there. God is always there in ways that we do not even realize. In Revelation, chapter 3 there is a passage about how God is sitting right at the door waiting for us to knock, and as soon as we knock, He wants to sit down at the table with us. I believe that we have a such a fogged up vision. Sometimes it's blatantly obvious that our attention needs to be brought to God.
Apart from the radio, think about your life. Think of all of the things you think about, deal with, and worry about on daily basis. There are so many things we think about and consume ourselves with that our vision becomes fogged to what is clear, eternal, and always there.
I know that sometimes we go through things when it really doesn't feel like God is there because those things are difficult and it's easy to dwell and focus on those instead of what is right in front of you. Over and over again in the Bible there is scripture that talks about how we need to keep our vision forward and not look to the right or to the left. Open your eyes because God is right there in front of you at the door waiting.
I almost want to call it God eyes...it's more than that. It's mind, ears, mouth and everything. What you see usually causes you to think..
My encouragement is to be more attentive to your surroundings and the things you experience every day. Sometimes we just expect God to show up because He is always present. Sometimes we just have to open our eyes.
I write for one reason, and that is to encourage others, give perspective, and get people excited about their faith.
