Teach me your ways

Too often I believe that it’s difficult to ask for things and think in such a way that is God - centered. Everywhere around us we have the world trying to fill us with nearly everything that is the opposite of God - centered.

This past week, I didn’t spend any time in the word because I was focused on an exam I took on Friday and to be completely honest, the only time I really thought about things that were God-centered I had to do something about it. It just didn’t happen, I had to be intentional about getting on my bible app.

So how do we start doing things that are more God - centered? First, we need to be intentional, and secondly, we have to ask God.

“Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” (Psalm 86:11)

This prayer captures a glimpse of spiritual vitality. Two requests are made: “teach me your way” and “give me an undivided heart.” Each request has a God - centered purpose: that the person praying would “rely on your faithfulness” and “fear your name.”

No matter how well we know and follow God, we can always ask him to increase our awareness and improve our obedience.

As we approach a week leading up to Thanksgiving, I would like to encourage you to be intentional. Commit to God’s ways, and ask for an undivided heart.
