The body of Christ, is much like the human body.
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12)
Each part of our bodies has a specific function that is necessary to the body as a whole. The parts are different for a purpose, and in their differences they must work together.
Christians must avoid two common errors: (1) being too proud of their abilities, or (2) thinking they have nothing to give to the body of believers.
Instead of comparing ourselves to one another, we should use our different gifts, together, to spread the Good News of the salvation.
I know for a fact that there are people out there who needed to hear that this morning. In a time where it's so easy to compare ourselves to others through their "perfect" lives on social media, we need to understand more than ever how important each, and every single person is. We all have our own special gifts to use together.
Just imagine, living in harmony like that. Everyone using their special gifts together to spread the Good News of the salvation. That is what we live for...spreading the good news...even though so many other things seem to be more important, we can't forget why we are here.
Going into 2021, my prayer for you, whether you know what your gifts are or not, is that you be entirely you, and understand that you are a gift. God made every person different and extremely special. Be proud of who you are and use your gifts to glorify him.
