This morning I want to share with you how we as Christians are going to suffer and it's totally okay. When we suffer we are called to rejoice in the suffering and God's glory will be revealed in the suffering. As Christians we are going to suffer in doing good. That is why it is hard sometimes because we get confused that we seem to be suffering when we are doing good. I think that we forget that Jesus suffered when he did good for us. Think of the story of Jesus and all of the good things that he did. He was perfect and he suffered more than any human ever will. He endured death so that we may be saved and have an eternal life if we believe in our heart that he did so. You want to be like Jesus right? I know that I want to have as many traits like him as I possible. Suffering is good-as long as you suffer through righteousness-Jesus suffered!
1 Peter 4:1-2: Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.
As soon as you accept Christ into your heart you are filled with the Holy Spirit. I am sure you have heard the scripture about your body being a temple for Christ. Christ suffered in his body, and now that we have him inside of us, we are done with sin. How awesome is that? As the result of all of that, we do not live the rest of our lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.
1 Peter 4:14-16: If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
The word of God is so awesome. This scripture literally says that if we are insulted because of the name of Christ that we are blessed. We shouldn't get sad about it or offended. We are blessed. Suffering is a blessing and we should never be ashamed, rather we should praise God because we get to bear his name!
Next time that you are suffering please do not let it tear you down or make you sad. That is what Satan wants. Rather, rejoice in it and know that it is a blessing. We are so blessed to be able to bear Christ's name, never forget that. I hope that you were encouraged by this post, because I know that I learned a lot and was very encouraged by it.
~ rejoice in all things ~
I write for one reason, and that is to encourage others, give perspective, and get people excited about their faith.
