Happy Sunday! Do you ever feel like you have the recipe to life because of the things you learned and the things you have been through but you seem like you need one more ingredient? I hope that after reading this post that you know that the secret ingredient is all about your mindset and what you are thinking about.
The last couple of Sundays I have made very long posts and this Sunday I will not do that. I want you to know that in Philippians 4, there is more in that chapter rather than verse 13. If you don't know that verse, here it is, "I can do all things through him who gives me strength." That seems to be a favorite verse for a lot of people. That's not what I want to focus on though. I want to take a quick look at the verses before that famous verse.
Philippians 4:4-9 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Why did that passage stick out to me? It stuck out to me because the key to winning to mental battle over everything is right in that passage. Every single day you fight negative thoughts and positive thoughts, just like you make decisions between right and wrong. Although we know the differences between the good and the bad and the right and the wrong it is still a battle for us because we are constantly being deceived. If you think about, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, whatever is excellent, and whatever is praiseworthy, you can conquer anything! Imagine having that mindset all of the time. It sounds like a recipe of success to me. You become unstoppable. Imagine the what you could conquer. I wish I could say it's easy but we all mess up, it's not easy, we all battle with it everyday. God still loves you no matter what your mindset is. Remember that.
I hope that I provided you with a secret ingredient from Philippians 4. I hope that you can use that mindset to further the kingdom and love others every whenever you can.
