Today is the day. How many of you in your faith walk think that if you are obedient in the long run that you will have a stronger relationship with Christ? I have some news for you today. Forget the vision and focus on today. Constant obedience everyday will lead you to your vision. What I am talking about today is from the sermon yesterday at church.
1.) Make Today Count
Do you not know that in a race all runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. ( 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 )
2.) Today, DECIDE
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. ( Joshua 24:15 )
3. Today, Work With What You Have
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Jesus Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs and there is no favoritism. ( Colossians 3:23-25 )
4. Today, Seek Him & His Righteousness
Look to the Lord and his strength, seek his face always. ( 1 Chronicles 16:11)
5. Today, Do It All In Love
Do everything in love. ( 1 Corinthians 16:14 )
6. Today, Keep His Words & Do Them
Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do. ( Deuteronomy 29:9 )
7. Today, Commit Your Work To Him
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. ( Proverbs 16:3 )
8. Today, Ask...Seek...&...Knock
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.
( Matthew 7:7 )
9. Today, Bear Fruit
The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. ( 1 Peter 4:7-11 )
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. ( John 15:7-8 )
I encourage you to start looking at today differently. If you start looking at today differently, your life will change. It's a difficult thing to start doing, but I hope and pray that we can do it together. Remember that you are loved and will always be loved. Make a decision that today will be different and have that mindset every single day.
I write for one reason, and that is to encourage others, give perspective, and get people excited about their faith.
