Jesus Calling

Jesus calls us. Every day Jesus is calling us to follow Him. Jesus wants you and you heart. I believe we have a hard time of giving all of it to Him. It can be easy to give just a little bit. It's easy to be moved by the Holy Spirit during a worship song or a sermon and then forget about it later that day. It's hard to be moved over and over again because that requires all of our heart.

If you ask me, it's time to give all your heart to Jesus. It's time to stop going half-way. That will never get you anywhere. It might make you feel good about yourself because you can talk like a Christian, but are you fully living your life as one?

Think about the things you only give part of yourself to. Those things probably leave you feeling a little empty inside. If I only gave a part of myself to my three lifelong best friends (Paul, Grant, & EJ) then the potential of our friendship cannot be reached. If I am not honest with them, and not vulnerable then it's not fair. I also can use basketball as an example. If I show up to practice and don't give everything I have, I am letting the team down and my coaches. I'm also just wasting my time if I do that. Again, I am not living up to my potential.

Again, if you can't put everything you have into something what is the point? To look good? To fit in? To try and be somebody you're not?

The reasoning behind this post today comes from Matthew 4 when Jesus calls the First Disciples. It all started like this: One day, Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee and he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, they were fisherman. This story is already cool. Jesus was so fully human and I think sometimes that is forgotten about. He was just walking by the sea, that would be so cool to see. So, when he saw the brothers he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Immediately they left their nets and followed him. Going on from there he saw tho other brothers, James and Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Two times, four brothers, and they all immediately left what they were doing to follow Jesus...

Seriously think about this! These guys were in the middle of fishing in the sea and they left immediately to follow Jesus. How often do we put other things before Jesus. We have to finish our homework before we have Jesus time, we have to watch netflix before our Jesus time, etc. We keep putting Jesus at the bottom of the list. I don't know why we do that either. Everybody knows deep down that Jesus should be at the top, I believe that...it's just crazy that it happens over and over again.

Just as much is Jesus is telling us to follow him, Satan is doing everything he can to turn us away from God by filling our life with a countless number of distractions.

My encouragement for you today is to leave what you have behind and to follow Jesus. It's a journey and a decision that you will never regret. It's not easy, it's very hard! If it were easy it wouldn't be worth it. Be like the disciples today and put God above all. It's one decision followed by obedience and a pursuit of righteousness.

it's okay to not understand

I believe that one of the things that hold people back from having a relationship with Christ is the feeling that they for some reason think...
